The Topic
For many years The Patum has been related to the religion and it is true and recognized for all that the history o The Patum cannot be explained without explaining its sacred-historic-population past. Such as the father Armengou explains in his book, “The Patum of Berga”: “ The Patum of Berga treats itself about the only living celebration of medieval roots that has remained intact across the centuries” Of this form Esteve Espelt tries to express this feeling that for centuries has been kept and that all those persons who have been assisted to the party could have verified. By means of a combination of sculptures and painting he gives a vision of what one feels, of what one lives in the square, of the environment and of the energy of each one of the jumps: angels i dimonis, turcs I cavallets, gegants, nans, áliga, guites…
Definitively, this monothematic work tries to express the feeling of one of the parties most established to the Corpus Cristi without leaving the aesthetic and modern expression of the work.

The meaning of the Patum is difficult to know and how the father Armengou says: “neither a sacred representation, nor a popular dance, nor exclusively festival of street, boisterous and primitive. But it is all that and furthermore sew.”.
